"Charlie in the rain". a new painting...

a new "painting" (36 x 36) of my boy, Charlie, who passed away Friday, November 15.  he liked lying in the shade of bushes and sitting stout-like in the drizzling rain.  an absolute badass, and i miss him a lot...

ten hand made books...

since December 2009 i've been making my own drawing books...well, punching and binding them with old book covers, to be exact. just made book # 10. so much growth, thank God...

"Snow Queen" to "Frozen"...

i'll regret posting this, but here are some old and simple concepts from 2008 during my Disney internship for "Snow Queen", now "Frozen".  have yet to see the movie in theaters, but my idea was a story based on broken hearts and isolation from all things joyful.  am grateful my skills have improved a great deal since then.  bloody hell...

would like to have a bit less green in there, but that's what you get when there's a lack of planning and you just go for it.  you learn to accept it and find the joy in it rather than being bitter and self deprecating over noth'n.  one of these days i will plan instead of just scribbling all over the place like a lil kid.  come to think of it, maybe i should do life like that as well..

what i enjoy about doing these is there is no underdrawing or pre mixing the colors.  just drop some simple colors on the page then start pushing it around, mixing, and scratching bits away.  the result is a fun surprise..

sometimes you meet people who just want to tell you how good they think they have it...and then they want to show you...and then they say you're shy for not looking..

Internet lies...

it's quite easy to find way too many people who believe they possess great wisdom, who have an Instagram account, and thus share their "deep and loving advice" to the populous on "how to be a better person". ignorant, narrow and simple-minded statements ensue. perhaps the same could be said for this exact thing i'm doing now...posting to my blog or Facebook. guess i just want to rid of the lies, for God's sake..
